London. Singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan has been awarded an honorary doctorate degree by England-based ‘Birmingham City University’ for his contribution in the field of music and arts. The 56-year-old Shankar, who is part of the music trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, was honored by the university’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Philip Plowden at a ceremony in Birmingham on Saturday.
“Globally renowned Bollywood singer and composer Shankar Mahadevan has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Honorary Doctorate by Birmingham City University for his outstanding contribution to the field of music and the arts,” the university said. This was done when a business delegation led by West Midlands Mayor Andy Street visited Mumbai.
Mahadevan said, “It is really a special moment for me. It is something new and it will take some time to embrace the feeling. “When I started my career, I did not expect that one day I would be awarded doctorate in music.
