Indian cricket team’s star fast bowler Mohammed Shami was honored with the Arjuna Award, one of India’s best sports awards, on Tuesday. Shami was honored with this award by the President of India Draupadi Murmu. Shami performed brilliantly for the country in the ODI World Cup played in 2023 last year, taking the most wickets and played an important role in taking the Indian team to the final of the World Cup. Shami has shared his video receiving the award on social media and also wrote an emotional message after which everyone congratulated him. Many veteran cricketers including Virat Kohli congratulated him for this achievement, after which Virat Kohli’s comment started going viral very fast.

After receiving the award, Shami posted on his social media account, ‘I feel very proud today that I have received this prestigious award from the President. I want to thank all those people who helped me reach here and supported me through the ups and downs of my life. Many thanks to my coach, BCCI, fellow players, my family, staff and all the fans. I will always try to give my best to make the country proud. Thanks again to everyone. President honored with Arjuna Award

Mohammed Shami was honored with the Arjuna Award by the President of India, Mrs. Draupadi Murmu on 9 January 2024. Last few days ago, the Sports Ministry had announced the National Sports Awards 2023. Apart from Mohammed Shami, 26 players were honored with Arjuna Award for their outstanding performance in different sports.

Shami’s magic worked in World Cup 2023

Last year, Mohammed Shami had presented a spectacular bowling performance, in the ODI World Cup tournament played in the year 2023, Mohammed Shami had registered the maximum number of wickets in his name. Shami had made 24 opposition batsmen his victims in seven matches. Thanks to Shami’s brilliant performance, the Indian team had reached the finals. However, the Indian team had to face defeat against Australia in the title match.
