What is XBB.1.16?
XBB.1.16 is a new mutant of Omicron which has been found in many countries including India. Currently, this sub-variant of Omicron accounts for 10 percent of the total cases in India. The new sub-variant of omicron has two mutations, one on the spike protein and the other on the open reading frame.

Corona cases across the country
The cases of corona infection are continuously increasing in the country, which has increased the concern. Here in Bihar, an alert has been issued regarding Corona. Mock drill will be held in all the hospitals of the state today. Talking about the national capital Delhi, 699 new cases of Kovid-19 have been reported here while the infection rate has gone up to 21.15 percent. Here, 788 new cases of corona virus infection have been reported in Maharashtra.
