A court in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district has dismissed a plea seeking a temporary order to restrain actor Shah Rukh Khan starrer film ‘Pathan’ teaser and its song ‘Besharam Rang’ from being shown on YouTube without a U/A censor certificate. Dismissing the petition, Joint Civil Judge PA Patel at Ahmednagar’s Shrirampur court said that a litigant should present something in support of his claim.

Suresh Patil, who claimed to be a social activist, had approached the court before the release of the film. The film came to the theaters on 25 January. The Court observed that a perusal of the complaint and the documents filed by the Plaintiffs appear to have sought a temporary injunction to restrain the Defendants (Yash Raj Films) from showing the teaser of the film ‘Pathan’ and the song ‘Besharam Rang’ without U/A certificate. The court also noted that it appears from the plea of ​​the plaintiff that he has seen the song and teaser on YouTube and also observed that U/A certificate is not shown before showing these. According to the court, Patel himself has stated the purpose of the U/A certificate which is unrestricted exposure under parental guidance to children below the age of 12 years. It said that there was no loss to the plaintiff. The court said that it appears that the plaintiff got confused.

Many came forward and alleged that the song had hurt religious sentiments. Posters of “Pathan” were torn in a mall in Ahmedabad, and members of the VHP and Bajrang Dal said they would not allow the screening of the film in Gujarat until their issues over the song were resolved.
