South India’s natural star Nani’s film Dasara has seen a slight drop in its business from the first day. This was bound to happen, as yesterday was a working day and the day of release was a Ram Navami holiday, allowing the film to take full advantage of the Ram Navami holiday and open at 23 crore nett. Since tomorrow was a working day, a fall was inevitable. The good news is that unlike the failure of some of the recent heavyweights of Tollywood, Nani’s film has managed to do decent business on its second day as well.
Directed by Srikanth Odela, this is the PAN India release of Nani, who is known for his performances in Eega and Jersey. The pre-release buzz has been huge in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. However, the film is not going to get much benefit out of these two states. But the Telugu circuit is enough to make Nani a winner as the film is doing great business from here.
On the second day, Dasara collected Rs 14.50 crore nett at the Indian box office (including all languages). Although it is a drop from 23 crores on the first day, but overall it is a good number. Looking at the response of the audience, it can be said that on Saturday and Sunday, the film will be successful in doing business of 35 to 40 crores at the box office. Made in a total budget of 65 crores, the film has already earned 45 crores through its rights before release. In the business of the last two days, the film has been successful in crossing the figure of 38 crores. In this way, Dusra has proved to be a profitable deal by taking 83 crores in lieu of its cost of 65 crores. In its first weekend, Dasara will manage to collect 75 crores from the theatres.
Although Dasra is not getting success in Hindi circuit. The biggest reason for this is that here Dasara has been displayed on limited shows and limited screens. Due to which the footfall of the audience is less visible in the theatres. In its two day run, Dasara has failed to cross the 1 crore mark in the Hindi circuit.
