I remember he was leaving the office and sending me messages asking more questions about Proshun’s character and at that time I was thinking about it myself. He continued, “This policeman should have been quirky with a certain fearlessness. I enjoyed it with Deepak. After about a week, I realized that I was again giving Deepak Dobriyal a bizarre character, which he has historically always played. Given his range and what he is capable of, I thought, why not make him the antagonist of Savitri, or let him play the anti-hero or the villain?

Revealing how Deepak Dobriyal got the role of a monk, Homi Adajania said that he had not actually seen Deepak playing a monk-like character. So he called him and said that he is no longer playing the role of a policeman. After which “in great shock, he asked me if he had been dropped from the series. Then I told him that I want him to play the role of an anti-hero. I spoke to him about the character and how it is an important role. It was exciting for me to find a guy who could play something that he hasn’t played before. You know, we typecast actors as soon as they’ve done a certain role. We keep repeating such characters from him and I felt the same is happening with Deepak Dobriyala.
