Navi Mumbai. Deepti Sharma took a maiden five-wicket haul (5 for 7) and bamboozled the batsmen as India Women bowled out England Women for 136 in their first innings on Friday, the second day of the four-day match DY Patil Dominated the only Test at the stadium.

India, who scored 428 runs in their first innings, took a lead of 292 runs and decided to bat rather than force the follow-on.

Deepti Sharma, who was out for 67 in the morning when India scored 428 in their first innings, added 18 runs to her night score, finishing with figures of 5.2-4-7-5, her best bowling performance in her career. Came in the third test.

Amy Jones was out strangely as her pull shot on the short ball bounced off the helmet of Smriti Mandhana at forward short leg and was caught by Shafali Verma at leg-slip. Due to this strange dismissal, England’s score became 126/5 in the 30th over.

Sciver-Brunt, who was batting on 35 at lunch, slowed considerably and brought up her half-century off 63 balls (8×4) as wickets continued to fall at the other end.

Deepti and Sneh then cleaned up the lower order as England lost their last five wickets in under 10 runs and India took a huge lead.

For India, Deepti (5-7), Sneh (2-25), Renuka Thakur (1-31) and Vastrakar (1-39) shared nine wickets each, while 13 wickets fell in two sessions on the second day.
