Dhanush in Ilaiyaraaja’s biopic, shooting will start in October 2024

Mumbai A biopic is being made on music composer Ilaiyaraaja. What’s even more exciting is that Tamil superstar Dhanush will be playing his character on screen.
Ilaiyaraaja has given iconic soundtracks in Indian cinema for projects like ‘Nayakan’, ‘Sadma’, ‘Thevar Magan’, ‘Aa Ratri’ and many more.
The shooting of the untitled film is scheduled to begin in October 2024 and the makers are aiming to release the film around the year 2025.
Ilaiyaraaja has been in the industry for 47 years. He is one of the top composers. He has composed more than 7,000 songs and given music for more than 1,000 films. Apart from this, has performed in more than 20,000 concerts. His nickname is “Isaignani” and he is often affectionately called “Maestro”. This title is awarded by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London. Oscar and Grammy winning composer A.R. Rahman also started out under the aegis of Ilaiyaraaja. When he joined the maestro in 1986, he was his disciple.
Dhanush is the biggest superstar of Tamil cinema, who also made fans in Bollywood with his films like ‘Raanjhanaa’ and ‘Atrangi Re’. He has acted in 46 films and has won 4 National Film Awards (two as an actor and two as a producer), 14 SIIMA Awards.
The new film is part of a collaboration between Connext Media and Mercury, and is the first of several films slated for the next three years.
