Dharmendra was born on 8 December 1935 in Kapurthala, Punjab. Like other children, he was very mischievous in his childhood. His real name is Dharam Singh Deol. In his childhood, he used to watch movies secretly from his father. Since childhood, Dharmendra was less interested in studies and more interested in Hindi cinema. Dharmendra had watched the 1949 film Dillagi more than 40 times. He was a big fan of Dilip Kumar. He also wanted to see himself as a hero on the big screen. For this reason he moved from Punjab to Mumbai.

Marriage

At the age of just 19, Dharmendra was married to Prakash Kaur. But after establishing himself as an actor in the industry, he married dreamgirl Hema Malini. Where Dharmendra has two sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol from his first wife. So, he has two daughters Isha and Ahana Deol from his second wife Hema Malini.

Dharmendra started his career in the year 1960 with the film ‘Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere’. After which the actor worked in many films and proved his acting prowess. Dharmendra got recognition from the film ‘Phool Aur Patthar’. Once during an interview, Dharmendra had told that he got only Rs 51 for his first film.

When Dharmendra came to Mumbai from Punjab in the year 1955-56 to make his mark in Hindi cinema, he was selected for films through Talent Hut. But even after winning the hunt, Dharmendra did not get the film. So Dharmendra had to visit the offices of producers to get films. But after making her debut in the industry with the film Dil Bhi Tera Main Bhi Tera, she gradually made her place in the hearts of the audience. In the 70s, even in front of veteran actors like Shashi Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna, Sanjeev Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra did not let his shine diminish.
