During an interview with Film Companion, Diljit Dosanjh was asked about the connection between art and pain. The singer and actor admits that he was very troubled by it as he had never experienced any pain or discomfort before in his life. Diljit will feel that even though he is a hardworking artiste, how will he reach that level of ‘madness’?
Diljit told that he has no pain in life. He then revealed that he initially tried to find pain after watching Ranbir Kapoor starrer Rockstar. The Lover singer was very inspired by the film and felt that Ranbir had done a great job in it. He says, “After watching the film, I tried to find the pain inside me. But I couldn’t find any pain. Then I thought, let’s move ahead without pain.”
Imtiaz Ali also reacts to the connection between art and pain
Director Imtiaz Ali himself shares that there is no connection between great art and pain. He revealed that he made this film because he wondered from a very young age how he could become a big person. He initially felt that pain makes for great art and this was his thought process until he worked on Rockstar. Imtiaz then realized that it was not so straightforward. It is not that heartbreak will lead to anything big.
Talking about Amar Singh Chamkila, the film also stars Parineeti Chopra and is a biographical drama film based on Punjabi folk singer Amar Singh Chamkila, who fought against objectification of women, alcoholism, sexual violence and domestic violence.
