Dubai | Novak Djokovic of Serbia, the world’s number one player, easily defeated Holland’s Telan Greekspoor to enter the quarterfinals of the Dubai Tennis Championships.

The 35-year-old Djokovic hit 29 winners, displaying tremendous hitting from the baseline. Grecspur, who holds a 12-3 record on the season, had no answer to Djokovic’s attacks. With the win, Djokovic maintained his record of never losing before the quarterfinals in 13 appearances in Dubai.

The Serbian player will face Hubert Harkaj of Poland in the quarterfinals.

In another match, Daniil Medvedev registered his 11th consecutive tour level win by defeating Alexander Bublik 6-4, 6-2. Medvedev won this match in just 65 minutes.

Medvedev will next face Borna Coric. Coric beat Thanasi Kokkinakis 6-7(4), 6-3, 7-5 to set up a quarterfinal clash with third seed Medvedev. Korich has a 4-2 record against Medvedev.(IANS)
