Shahrukh Khan’s film Dunky has successfully completed two weeks in theaters with a strong performance at the box office. The movie got a lot of love from fans.

According to industry tracking website Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 2.20 crore on Friday, taking its total earnings in India to Rs 208.67 crore.

The film’s production house Red Chillies Entertainment recorded earnings of Rs 422.99 crore for Dunky at the global box office. It overtook the lifetime earnings of Chennai Express, making it the third biggest hit of Shahrukh’s career after Jawan and Pathan.

Despite its success, Dunki has not matched the box office performance of Rajkumar Hirani’s previous films such as Sanju and PK, which earned Rs 588 crore and Rs 769.89 crore worldwide.

Recently, director Rajkumar Hirani has broken his silence on the box office clash of Dinky and Prabhas starrer Salaar. Donkey hit the theaters on 21 December, while Salaar hit the theaters a day later.

Dunki managed to collect only Rs 30 crore on its opening day. On the other hand, Salaar emerged as the biggest opener of 2023, breaking the records of many films. The film grossed Rs 95 crore across all languages ​​on its opening day in India.

Earlier, in an interview with News 18, Hirani revealed that Shah Rukh already knew that Dunky would not be able to make money like his previous action films Jawan and Pathan.

The director had told, “After doing two back-to-back action films, Shahrukh was waiting for Donkey. He was happy to do something like this. Shahrukh is an intelligent person and knew that people were following a trend and liking action films.

He always told me not to expect big numbers at the box office in the beginning.
