Speaking to Punjabi content platform Cine Punjabi, Zaiman revealed that he is in touch not only with Gurmail but also his step-sisters. He said in an interview last year “I am in touch with Chamkila’s first family. I have two sisters from his first wife, Amandeep and Kamaldeep. The elder is married and has two children and Kamal is getting married this year (2023).

He said, “When I go to meet her, she welcomes me nicely but that’s all. It has been like this since the beginning. “It is neither his fault nor our (children’s) fault.” Asked if they shared her grief about losing Chamkila, Jaiman said in Punjabi, “Sometimes we talk and she says if your father was around, we wouldn’t be in this situation.
