What were your thoughts before coming into the role of Pooja?
(Laughs) That was my thought that I could give sleepless nights to all the actresses. I want that this time I get selected in the Best Actress category and I also win. Well, I wanted to be a part of an entertaining film. I want this film to entertain the audience a lot and thinking of this I joined this film.
How much did you change yourself physically for the role of Pooja?
For the character of Pooja, I lost ten kilos and then worked by adding padding. VFX also has its own importance. Although the body will be found, but from where will you get the style, so work was done on it. Unleash your inner female side. The work done in the theater came in handy. Along with this, he also worked in radio by creating a lot of sound, so that too came in handy.
How long did it take for the girl to get into the getup and what were the challenges?
It used to take two and a half hours to complete the look, while the film’s actress Ananya used to get ready in 45 minutes. By the way, as an actor, the more you get a chance to change the getup, the more fun it is, because you want to do something different in every film. This time I got a chance, so I left no stone unturned. Yes, it is difficult in the summer season, when the temperature remains 40 to 45. Did makeup and hair in it. Wear padded clothes. Had to shave every three hours. Had to do full make-up again. Overall, it was not that easy.
What made you find different about women’s makeup?
I learned a lot about eye makeup. Eye makeup should match the color of the saree. I came to know this only during the shooting of this film.
Have you taken tips from the women around you in bringing out the feminine side in yourself?
I have had very strong women around me. My wife, my manager, my heroines, somewhere you also have the feeling of a feminist. As an actor, you observe him. By the way, there is a feminine energy in every man and if we keep it alive, then our society can improve. The patience that women have is the need of the society, so it should always be kept. Male energy should not be allowed to dominate itself, otherwise the balance of the society will be disturbed.
Till now many actors have played the characters of women on the screen. Are you influenced by someone special?
I have not been impressed by the actors who have played female roles on screen. I have been influenced by Hema Malini ji and Madhuri Dixit. I think that if his style and tantrums can be brought on screen, then it will be more beautiful.
This is a comedy film. Can you ever play the role of a transgender in a film made on a serious issue?
Yes, why not. I have always wanted to do different characters, but I would also say that if a film is being made on transgender in the future, then only a transgender actor should be taken to portray it on screen. This will do more justice to the subject.
Your character in the film is giving a lot of importance to money. Who is important to you in personal life?
Saraswati always comes before Lakshmi for me. If I am honest with Saraswati, then Lakshmi will automatically come.
Your last film Action Hero was well received by the critics, but the film didn’t open in theatres.
You are getting to play different characters and amazing stories are also being told. Apart from this, the best team is also getting along. You are doing your work with passion, so despite those failures, you consider yourself a winner. Some things are not in your hands.
