New Delhi: Indian team’s wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan will be part of the Test team on the West Indies tour. A selector of Team India and a BCCI official has given this information in a conversation with NBT’s senior sports correspondent Vimal Kumar. Apart from this, expressed surprise at the news in which it has been said that Ishaan Kishan has expressed his disinterest in red ball cricket by withdrawing his name from Duleep Trophy. The selector said on the condition of anonymity that there was no such conversation with Kishan in which it was said that he does not want to play Test cricket. He was so close to playing in the final how could he miss the opportunity to play in the next test. Especially considering that in Indian cricket at present, if there is any sort of alternative to Rishabh Pant, then it is Kishan.

Let us tell you that in the last 5 Test matches against Australia, both Kishan and KS India have been part of the team, but despite all the advocacy of Ricky Ponting and many other veterans, Kishan has not got a place in the playing XI, but, in these five matches India’s game has been very simple and it is possible that Kishan will get a chance to be part of the playing XI in both the matches of the two-match series against the West Indies.

Earlier this year, Kishan had scored the fastest double hundred as an opener on the tour of Bangladesh when he came in as a replacement for injured skipper Rohit Sharma. Before the Test series against Australia, Kishan also scored a century against Kerala in a Ranji match for Jharkhand. However, he did not take up the responsibility of wicketkeeping in that match.
In the IPL too, Kishan has been a part of Mumbai Indians for a long time, where he plays the role of an aggressive opener as well as a wicketkeeper.

Interestingly, when we asked a top BCCI official to react to the news of Kishan, he had a blunt answer – Fake news! However, the Caribbean tour could prove to be the most important tour of his career for Kishan where he will be challenged to prove himself in Test cricket. If he plays in two matches and also manages to hit a four on this occasion, then who knows, he will cement his claim as a regular wicket-keeper batsman for Team India after Pant.
