Exclusive: ‘Na Age Ki Seema Ho’ actor Karan Suchak said – Going from TV to OTT does not mean a step up

Actor Karan Suchak has recently become a part of Star Bharat’s show Na Age Ki Seema Ho. Due to his presence, Dev and Vidhi’s love story will go through new ups and downs in the show. Karan says that he joined the shooting of the show within a span of two days after the show was offered. This is common in television. You have to get into your character immediately. Excerpts from the conversation with Urmila Kori.
There is no age limit, you have joined this show midway, so how was the atmosphere on the sets?
It’s only been a few days since I started shooting. The people I’m working with. They are very nice people. I remember the day I had my first day of shoot. Actor Iqbal Khan gifted me Cadbury silk so that I could be comfortable on the sets on the first day itself. The atmosphere on the set is so positive, that you do not feel that you have just become a part of the show.
When you join a show midway, you think that the artistes are already working, their bonding will be better, will you be new?
What matters most for an actor is what he is adding to the story. that’s important. As far as bonding is concerned, everyone has to work, so they have to do it together with each other. In such a situation, a positive vibes is created on the set.
The show negates the age limit in love, in your personal life have you ever set an age for your love, career and other things?
This is what we plan when we are 25 years old. I also did that time, but then life teaches us that nothing has any age. Right things happen automatically at the right time. By the way, I have been working since the age of 21. Initially did corporate job, then acting. I always wanted to stand on my feet financially and it happened.
What made you take up TV after a gap?
As everyone knows that I have mostly played mythological characters on the small screen. I have become Ram and Laxman. After the image is made, you start getting similar role offers in TV. I had decided that I will not do mythological shows anymore. Made a distance from mythological shows, but only positive roles were available. I wanted to do something gray and realistic. Whose opportunity was given to me by this show and I immediately accepted this offer.
In the current era, OTT has become a challenge for TV, what is your opinion on this?
OTT is attracting people, but I think social media is also giving tough competition. Everyone is on social media these days and showing their talent sitting at home. They don’t have to come to Mumbai, so the competition is increasing every day. We just have to keep doing our work with hard work, then the audience will be connected to OTT and social media as well as TV.
There is also talk of change in content on TV from time to time? What kind of content do you want to see?
I think that some shows on freedom fighters should be brought on television. We have endless stories about freedom fighters. Ek Swaraj Karke show is coming on Doordarshan. I played the role of Mangal Pandey in that show. Some such stories should come on prime channels.
Does the thought of taking a break from TV and focusing on OTT come to mind?
If I have gone from here to there, it does not mean that I have gone one step higher. All platforms are same for me. For me, TV is giving more challenging character not in OTT and this is what an actor needs.
You have completed a decade in TV, how do you look back on the journey so far?
Much remains to be done. Acting is such a career, where ten years is only the beginning. How to apply what you have learned. It starts only after ten years, so a lot has to be done now.
TV stars these days are very active on social media platforms as well?
Those who live have their own will. I personally do not like to participate in this race. I think I would rather do something in acting or watch a good film than join the reel trend. So that I can understand my craft more. After all, I have come in the industry to act and do my best in it.
