Exclusive: Rajkumar Santoshi gave advice to Mahatma Gandhi’s great grandson Tushar – don’t be mindless, watch the film first

Bollywood’s famous filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi is coming with his upcoming film ‘Gandhi Godse: Ek Yuddh’. As it is clear from the title of the film that the story of the film is the story of the war of ideas between Mahatma Gandhi and Nathuram Godse. However, as soon as the trailer of this film came out, the statement of Mahatma Gandhi’s great-grandson Tushar Gandhi has come to the fore, in which he said that he will not watch any film where killers are glorified. Now filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi has put his point on this statement of Tushar.

‘I have not fabricated things about Godse’

Rajkumar Santoshi said in an exclusive conversation with NavbharatTimes, ‘ Godse killed Gandhiji, but I have kept what he himself has said. You have not kept your own concoction. If you want that even that statement should not come out, then it is wrong. It is his right and people also have the right to know the truth. Every man has a right. And those who are opposing it, for example I saw in Bhopal also that some people protested, burnt my effigies and threatened that if this film is released in theatres, they will burn the theatres.

This is what you people have learned from Gandhi?

He further said, ‘He is saying that he is a follower of Gandhi and we have told something wrong about Gandhiji. Gandhiji has talked about truth, non-violence and peace… If Gandhiji was a follower in real, would Gandhiji have approved this thing? Was this their way of protesting? Which philosophy do they follow, whom do they consider as ideal? There is a way to show your displeasure, it is not the way to set the theater on fire. This is what you people have learned from Gandhi? I am Gandhism better than you. I have not made violence a weapon till date. And on what basis are you protesting? watching the trailer? This shows how mindless you are.

Said this for Tushar Gandhi

Santoshi said, ‘You will know after seeing the picture that if Gandhiji said this, then what did Godse say or if Gandhiji says this, then what is Godse’s answer. You react after watching the film. From the teaser itself, you have made up your mind that you will set the theater on fire. this is wrong. I would also like to say to Tushar Gandhi that watch the film once and tell whether I have shown it wrong, it was not like that or it is not true.

Tushar Gandhi had said- I do not want to watch such films

Let us inform that recently while talking to ANI, Tushar Gandhi had said that for him Godse is a hero and if they show him as a hero then there is no surprise in it.
