Mumbai Bollywood and TV comedian actor Rakesh Bedi has alleged that he was cheated by an alleged army man when he tried to sell his flat in Pune.
According to the complaint lodged by actor Rakesh Bedi at Oshiwara police station, the alleged army man is Aditya Kumar, who had responded to an online ad to buy the actor’s flat.
The accused called Bedi and claimed that he was interested in buying the flat and both agreed on a price of around Rs 87 lakh.
The prospective buyer, who also showed his identity card and other documents proving his service in the Indian Army, offered to pay from his ‘Army Account’ and asked Bedi to deposit Rs 85,000.
Kumar shared his account number with Bedi and asked for a test transfer of one rupee, and after being successful, asked her to transfer Rs 50,000.
He told the actor that he had transferred the amount back, but when Bedi said that he had not received the amount, the accused gave a vague answer.
He asked Bedi to transfer two amounts of Rs 25,000 and Rs 10,000 from his wife’s account, which he did, but after that, Kumar, who claimed to be an army man, stopped picking up the actor’s calls.
Realizing that she had been duped by the so-called army personnel, Bedi finally lodged a police complaint on Saturday and further investigation is underway, the investigating officer said.
