Mumbai Filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan, who is currently seen as a judge on celebrity dance show ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’, took a trip down memory lane and talked about the choreography for the track ‘Pehla Nasha’. She told how she wanted to do something new and completely different for the song.

This weekend, the celebrities will try something new for the first time and step into the dance arena with a ‘Pehli Baar’ special themed episode in which they will be scored for the first time by a trio of judges – Farah, Arshad Warsi and Malaika Arora.

Actor Aamir Ali, who made a strong comeback on TV with ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’, will give an excellent performance in front of the audience.

Performing on the romantic track ‘Pehla Nasha’ with her choreographer Sneha Singh, her footwork, lifts and chemistry made the performance beautiful.

Farah, who originally choreographed the song, was very impressed with the performance.

When asked how she conceived and choreographed the song, Farah said, “I wanted to do something very, very different and completely new at that time. You know, in all the dance sequences, even in love songs, there are usually background dancers running around.

“I wanted to break that mold and do something new,” she said. Since I was also young at the time, I wanted to show that when we are in love, the world does not exist. Everything is blurry, and we see things only according to our mood. I wanted to bring it into the choreography.

This song is from the 1992 sports film ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’, which featured Aamir Khan, Ayesha Jhulka, Deepak Tijori and other actors.

The song ‘Pehla Nasha’ is sung by Udit Narayan and Sadhna Sargam.

Praising Aamir’s performance, Farah said, “This song is very close to my heart. This is the first song for which I got recognition. You both look great together.”

He said, “Aamir, when you waltz with a girl, she becomes the centrepiece, especially with the dress and the lifts. You didn’t let the focus go away from you.

Farah further said, ‘Last week you looked a little nervous, but today you look confident. As I said earlier, a hero is a hero and you performed like a star. It was a Tehelka performance.”

‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’ airs on Sony.
