New Delhi. Actor Akshay Kumar on Sunday said in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’ that people should focus on living a healthy life and not on living an ‘ostentatious’ life inspired by film stars. Akshay Kumar shared his tips on fitness in the 108th episode of this radio broadcast.

The actor thanked the Prime Minister for providing him the platform in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ to share his views with the people. She said, “You all know I am passionate about fitness, but I am even more passionate about staying fit the natural way. I like swimming, playing badminton, climbing stairs, exercising with mudgars, eating good healthy food more than fancy gyms…”

The actor said, “Change your lifestyle on the advice of doctors, and not by looking at a film star’s body. Actors are often not what they appear to be on screen. Many types of filters and special effects are used and after seeing them, we start using shortcuts to change our body.

Akshay also cautioned the listeners about taking shortcuts in their fitness journey. “Nowadays, a lot of people take steroids and try to get six packs and eight packs,” he said. Friends, with such shortcuts the body swells from outside but remains hollow from inside. Remember that shortcuts can shorten your life. You need long-term fitness, not shortcuts…”

Akshay (56) said, “Like, I believe that pure ghee, if eaten in the right quantity, is beneficial for us. But I see that many boys and girls do not eat ghee because they fear that they may become fat. It is very important for us to know what is good and what is bad for our fitness.” The actor compared fitness to ‘penance’.

“It shouldn’t be like instant coffee or two-minute noodles,” he said. In this new year, stay away from chemicals and do not take shortcuts. Exercise, yoga, good food, sleep on time, some meditation and most importantly…be happy to accept the way you look. After today, don’t live a filtered life, live a fit life.” During the telecast of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Isha Foundation founder Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur and chess legend Vishwanathan Anand also spoke about their Shared fitness tips.
