Gadar 2 Box Office Collection Day 10: Sunny Deol’s film broke Pathan’s record, created mutiny on the second weekend

Sunny Deol in the character of Angry Young Man Tara Singh is making a splash at the box office. He is rewriting history. In 2001, when Gadar released and was pitted against Aamir Khan starrer Lagaan, Bollywood people reportedly tried to pull it down. However, the audience accepted the film and showered it with love and now history is repeating itself with Gadar 2. Directed by Anil Sharma, this film is earning a lot. It has crossed the Rs 350 crore mark in India. According to industry analyst Saknilak, it collected Rs 41 crore on the second weekend with an increase of 55 percent. The film has so far collected a total of Rs 377.20 crore in India and Rs 435.1 crore worldwide.
Gadar 2 box office collection
Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 is earning a bang with every day. The film is breaking all records at the box office. Despite competition from Rajinikanth’s Jailer and Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2, Gadar 2 opened on a strong note and collected a whopping Rs 41 crore on Day 1. After which its total collection has become Rs 377.20 crore. The film, directed by Anil Sharma, earned 23.28 crores on the first weekend. Gadar 2 had an overall Hindi occupancy of 72.60% on Sunday, 20 August 2023. It is the second biggest Saturday ever before Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 26.5 cr), The Kashmir Files (Rs 24.8 cr) and Pathan (Rs 22 cr).
Gadar 2 broke Pathan’s record
Gadar 2 has also left behind Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Rs 320 crore). It has reached the fifth position leaving behind Tiger Zinda Hai (Rs 339 crore), PK (Rs 340 crore) and Sanju (Rs 342 crore). While Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Pathan’ collected Rs 28.50 crore on the second Sunday, but Gadar 2 broke this record and created history by earning double. Let us inform that the lifetime net business of Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Pathan’ is said to be around Rs 543.09 crore. Gadar has a long way to go but it looks like the film can catch up to ‘Pathan’ and break its record as well.
These films are not able to shake Gadar from theaters
Here OMG 2 did a business of Rs 10.53 crore. On the other hand, there is a slight increase in the business on Sunday. According to initial estimates, Akshay Kumar’s film earned Rs 12.70 crore. Like OMG 2, Jailor is also far behind Gadar 2. As per the initial estimates, the Rajinikanth, Ramya Krishnan starrer film has earned Rs 18 crore on its second Sunday. The Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher starrer sports drama film is progressing at a slow pace and seems to be heavily influenced by the business of Gadar 2, OMG 2 and Jailer. There is a possibility of earning Rs 1.50 crore from this.
Hema Malini praises Gadar 2
Hema Malini was the latest celebrity to praise Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’. The veteran actress-politician watched the film on the night of August 19 and spoke to people. He said, “I have come after seeing Gadar. It felt great. It was as expected. Very interesting. It seemed that the 70’s and 80’s is a film-like era of our times. Anil Sharma ji has brought that era, he has directed very beautifully. The actress further said, “Sunny is superb, Utkarsh, Anil Sharma ji’s son has also done very beautiful acting, the new girl is also very good. Seeing this picture, the feeling that one should have towards the nation, patriotism, is very much. The brotherhood that should be towards Muslims has been brought to the last.

Sunny Deol will be seen in Border 2
Sunny Deol, who is currently basking in the success of Gadar 2, has reacted to reports that he is now prepping for the Border sequel. He wrote a note about this on Instagram and said, ‘I have not signed any film.’ He wrote, “Some news is doing the rounds that I have signed some films, I would like to inform that at the moment I am only focusing on Gadar 2 and getting all your love. I have not signed any film and will soon announce something specific at the right time. Till then keep showering your love on Tara Singh and Gadar 2.”
