The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has taken strong objection to a scene in Sunny Deol starrer Gadar 2 being shot in the Gurdwara premises. Gurcharan Singh Grewal, general secretary of the apex gurdwara body, said the film’s hero and heroine can be seen in a sequence at the gurdwara.

Chandigarh. Gadar 2: The Story Continues is an upcoming 2023 Indian Hindi-language action drama film directed by Anil Sharma. It is a sequel to the 2001 film Gadar. The film stars Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma in lead roles. After a long time the shooting of the film has been completed and it is also ready for release. It is scheduled to release on 11 August 2023. Before the release, the film seems to be engulfed in controversies.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has taken strong objection to a scene in Sunny Deol starrer Gadar 2 being shot in the Gurdwara premises. Gurcharan Singh Grewal, general secretary of the apex gurdwara body, said the film’s hero and heroine can be seen in a scene at the gurdwara, which is objectionable. In a tweet, Grewal said, “Flowers are being showered (on the actor and actress).

Also, Sikhs can be seen performing ‘Gatka’ (the traditional martial art of Sikhs) around the two of them.” Grewal expressed his displeasure and said that Deol and the director of the film should understand that the gurudwara is not the place to shoot such scenes. “We want to say that such scenes (a video clip) which are surfacing are shameful for the Sikh community,” the SGPC general secretary said.

In a video clip doing the rounds online, Sunny Deol and actress Ameesha Patel can be seen standing hand in hand at a gurudwara while ‘Gatka’ is being performed around them. Deol is also a Member of Parliament of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
