Gadar: ek premakatha, new technology, new visuals to create history again after 22 years

Anil Sharma’s partition drama Gadar: Ek Prem Katha created history in 2001 after it performed on multiple fronts. It not only proved to be the biggest blockbuster of all time, but also beat the much more publicized and sophisticated Lagaan, which released on the same day, June 15, 2001. 22 years after creating history, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha is back in theaters with an extra sequence. This film is coming to connect with the audience again on 9th June 2023, 22 years after creating history.

Now Gadar makers Zee Studios are all set to re-release Gadar: Ek Prem Katha two months ahead of its sequel, which will go on floors in August. The original Gadar: Ek Prem Katha has been completely renovated at a cost of 2 crores. Not only this, but the scenes which were removed from the film when it was first screened will give a new experience to the viewers who have seen it before and for the first time. Zee will release the new version of Gadar in select theaters on Friday. The number of shows will be increased according to the response the film is getting.

Anil Sharma’s Gadar is the epic saga of Tara Singh (Sunny Deol), a Sikh truck driver who falls in love with Sakina (Ameesha Patel), whose family is killed during the Partition. She marries Tara and starts her life afresh. But later he came to know that his family lives in Pakistan. When she visits her parents in Pakistan, her father Ashraf Ali (Amrish Puri) imprisons her as he does not approve of his marriage with Tara. After learning about Sakina’s condition, Tara travels with his son to Pakistan to bring her back.

Sunny Deol had said in one of his interviews, he has never acted in a film which had the emotional impact of Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. After 22 years, it will be interesting to see how the new generation of viewers react to this wonderful tale of timeless love. Zee Studios has a lot of faith in their film. Gadar is a film that has never dated. With enhanced sound and visuals, it will not only appeal to the die-hard audience of the film but also bring in new audiences, say audiences who have seen Gadar: Ek Prem Katha in theaters in their time and still want to Keep watching it on OTT platform and YouTube.
