Ghoomer Box Office Collection Day 4: Abhishek Bachchan starrer ‘Ghoomar’ has released in the theaters and has received good reviews from Bollywood celebs and critics.
Despite the positive response, ‘Ghoomar’ is struggling to perform well at the box office, as the film is facing stiff competition from ‘OMG 2’ and ‘Gadar 2’. Apart from Abhishek Bachchan in ‘Ghoomar’, Saiyami Kher is also in the lead role.
According to the website Sacnilk, ‘Ghoomar’ has collected Rs 50 lakhs on the fourth day according to the initial estimates and its total box office collection is Rs 3.95 crores.
Talking about the film, Bachchan said, “I have never seen ‘Ghoomar’ as a sports film. For me, it is a very inspirational film, which touches everyone’s heart.
He said, when we were discussing the release strategy and when we decided that we were releasing it in theaters on August 18, many people told us ‘no’. He said that these are films with larger than life events, which are pulling the audience to the theatres. For me, emotion, hope and heart is the phenomenon of the film.
Balki has presented it on a scale where it is a theatrical experience. Not just the last half an hour or 40 minutes, which is, if I may say so, mind boggling. When I was watching it in the mix, I was actually standing, clapping and crying the last half hour, 40 minutes.
Abhishek Bachchan said, this helped us believe that it is a dramatic film, but for me, the larger-than-life aspect of the film is not an incident, not an action piece. It is heart and emotion. I came out of this film with a smile on my lips and tears in my eyes. That’s what cinema is about.”
‘Ghoomar’ revolves around a talented young batsman, Aneena, who loses her right hand in an accident. Abhishek Bachchan plays a ruthless, unsuccessful cricketer who gives new hope to Anina. Directed by R Balki, the film also stars Shabana Azmi and Angad Bedi in supporting roles.
