Gigi Hadid apologizes for post showing Israel torturing Palestinian children

Los Angeles. Gigi Hadid has apologized for not fact-checking a post she shared on Instagram, backtracking on her comments on Israel holding children as prisoners.

The 28-year-old model said she was trying to explain that Palestinian children are often not given the same rights as Israeli children accused of similar crimes, reports Mirror UK.

However, he apologized for using the example of Ahmed Manasra, who was arrested in 2015 for stabbing two Israeli citizens in Pisgat Jeev, an illegal Israeli settlement in occupied East Jerusalem.

Mansara, now 21, was arrested at the age of 13 and interrogated by Israeli authorities. He has been in prison since then and has developed serious mental health problems, according to Amnesty. She further mentioned, “I wanted to show how international law is being undermined by the Israeli government. In this case I was trying to shed light on how Palestinian children arrested by the IDF are often not given the same rights as an Israeli child accused of the same crime. Unfortunately, I used the wrong example to explain that point and I regret it.

“I was focused on human rights issues. That’s why I also want to reiterate that attacking any human being, including certainly Jewish people, is never okay,” she wrote to her 79.1 million followers. Taking innocent people hostage is never okay. Harming someone because they’re Jewish — that’s never okay. That’s wrong. Freedom and humane treatment for Palestinians and security for Jewish people are the same thing. Can be important for a person, including me.
