Godrej Group buys Raj Kapoor’s Chembur bungalow

The Chembur bungalow of late actor Raj Kapoor, known as the show man of Indian cinema, has been sold. According to the received news, Godrej Group has bought this iconic bungalow for 100 crores. Now a premium residential project will be built in place of this bungalow. According to the information, this bungalow is spread over about 1 acre. In 2019, the famous RK Studio was also bought by Godrej Group.

Godrej Properties MD Gaurav Pandey has thanked the Kapoor family. He said that Raj Kapoor’s iconic bungalow is now a part of his portfolio. Through this project, we will further strengthen our position in Chembur.

While Raj Kapoor’s son Randhir Kapoor said, we have many memories from this bungalow. It means a lot to our family. We look forward to the Godrej family taking this rich legacy forward.

Estimated value of the project is around 500 crores
Raj Kapoor left behind many expensive properties. Among them, Chembur-based RK Studios and Bungalow were quite famous. RK Studios was sold four years ago, and now their iconic bungalow has also been sold to the Godrej family.

The land is spread over a total of one acre, said Pirojsha Godrej, executive chairman of Godrej Properties, according to Hindustan Times. We will develop a premium residential project on this land. The estimated value of this project will be around 500 crores. This bungalow of Raj Kapoor is next to Tata Institute of Social Sciences on Deonar Farm Road.

In May 2019, the Godrej family had bought RK Studios. The area of ​​this studio was spread over 2.2 acres. It was owned by Raj Kapoor’s sons, Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor. All three had sold this project with mutual consent. Currently, modern residential apartments and luxury retail space are being developed in this 33,000 square meter area of ​​RK Studios.

RK Studios was founded by Raj Kapoor in 1948. This studio has produced many cult and classic films. These include films like Aag, Barsaat, Awara, Shree 420, Sangam, Mera Naam Joker, Bobby and Ram Teri Ganga Maili. In 2017, a fire gutted a large part of the studio. Since then, the Kapoor family decided to sell it.
