Why did Maldives get chilli?
Modi’s efforts to promote tourism in Lakshadweep have angered some people, including Maldivian government officials. Maldivian Minister Mariam Shiuna, in a now-deleted post on X, had mocked Modi for his visit to Lakshadweep and also used some abusive language. Shiuna had encouraged tourists to visit her country with the hashtag #VisitMaldives. Apart from this, some other netizens from Maldives also posted racist and derogatory comments against Indians.
