I had stopped working five years ago just for looks or for money. Now I want to do good and do my mind. By the way, as soon as I sent the audition, I got a call in the evening itself. By the way, from one of my ads, casting director Mukesh Chhabra felt that I was perfect for the role of Feroze. They showed Raj and DK a wedding ad for my Flipkart. In which first I speak fast then I start speaking slowly. After which everyone felt that I was perfect to become Firoz.

I am an educated actor. I have studied acting from FTII. If I get any role, I just walk away with a high face. I am not one of them. I think people are not getting good opportunities here and if they are getting then live it with full preparation. I work on character internals first, like what are the characters and I have in common. In which things are not the same. Why is the character’s behavior like this. I work on his upbringing and the background related to him. After working internally, I work on the external aspect. What will be its body language. What kind of language will work. Till I am not completely satisfied about all these aspects. Till then I keep spoiling my mind and everyone’s mind on the set.

The most difficult for me was to catch the language, because I am from Delhi, although I have come to Mumbai for more than 9 years. I have practiced a lot on the language. (Laughs) Especially the kind of abuses. Abuses are such things, which change in every state. Those who are common people. First of all connect to this. Some abuses of the fake series have become such a hit that fans are writing the same and sending it to me on social media. I write that brother why are you writing this. To be honest, it was difficult for us to shoot the entire series, because Corona was raging and we were shooting during the time of Kovid. There was a lot of fear at that time. It was not easy to focus on the project in such a way. If I talk about one scene, then the scene in which Shahid’s character and I are being taken to kill and we are waiting for Anees. That was the most difficult scene. It was a scene where both the characters are ready to give their lives for each other. Such scenes easily seem melodramatic. In such a scene, you have to perform in balance. In that scene, along with friendship, fear was also to be shown that he might shoot. It was a very heavy scene. It took me the most effort to perform it.

I have become a huge fan of Vijay Sethupathi sir, especially after doing the fake shoot. He is such a big star. I didn’t know this before shooting the fake, because before that I had seen only one movie of his Super Deluxe, the kind of man he is. That defines his stardom completely. They make you feel like I am yours. He is a very lovely person. I keep calling him even now. He talks to you with so much respect that after a point of time you start to doubt why such a big star is giving me so much respect. If I can be even 50 percent like him, I feel my life will be successful. Will go.

If you have come out on the road, then you will definitely find potholes. Now turn the car on you and go back or keep moving. All the ups and downs came. I didn’t take them to heart. By the way, I have got mostly supportive people. All the casting directors I have worked with. Everyone has always told me that my craft is good. I kept on becoming a part of many big films, but if I did not get one job, I definitely got another in its place.

I am very lucky that I have very good friends and family. Because of which he did not take the matter to heart. I thought that his mood would not be good today. There will be some trouble. Thinking all this, I explained to myself, but I would say that if someone was struggling alone, then such a rejection can break him. I hope that one day after seeing my work, he himself would call me to give me a job.

I used to enjoy doing this work since the time I was studying in school. When I was in 9th class. A career counseling guy came to my class. Waking up everyone was asking, what do you want to become, I said that actor. First he smiled softly, then he asked whether there is any actor in the family or acquaintance. When I said no, he said that he will not make it, but I did not stop acting because of his talk, because I used to enjoy it. He used to do drama in school and then in college. He also used to do modeling in Delhi. There was a friend who said that he is fond of acting, so let’s go to FTII. Before that I didn’t even know his name. He told that it is the best acting institute in Asia. Both of us filled the form but it was mine, not his. After that I went on with life. I used to enjoy this work.

There is a huge support for any actor when his family is with him. The pressure of what people will say then reduces. My father was in the army. Now he is no more. He was posted in South Africa for a long time. His thinking was quite progressive. Whoever is reading this interview. My family saw it for the first time in the theatre. I remember when my first film Shuddh Desi Romance released in 2013. My name was not even written in that film. After leaving the theatre, people were saying that the bathroom scene was funny. Papa’s chest became wide with pride. Whenever my family members used to call from Delhi, they used to ask only one thing that are you happy.
