Generally, there is a rule to provide free medicines and other resources to the patients admitted to the Sadar Hospital for medical treatment by the Health Department. At present this is not happening in the hospital. Even the stock of catgut thread required for sealing wounds has been exhausted in the hospital. The operations are being done after the family members of the hospitalized patient purchased catgut thread from outside. At present, there are many cases in the hospital, where before the operation, the patient’s family members were asked to buy catgut thread from outside. Not only this, the stock of other medicines and materials in the hospital has also been completely exhausted. In such a situation, the work is being done by getting medicines from outside from the patient’s family. Prabhat Khabar took stock of Sadar Hospital on Wednesday. It was revealed that many types of medicines were not available in the hospital for almost a month. The management has demanded from the District Health Department to provide medicines and other materials. For this, several letters were given through the Civil Surgeon to the concerned officer supplying the medicines, but till now the medicines and other materials have not been made available. In such a situation, the common patients admitted in the hospital are suffering the brunt of departmental apathy.

Patients are buying RL line from outside.

RL saline is administered not only to serious patients admitted to the hospital, but also to common patients. Especially before and after any kind of operation, RL saline is administered to the patients. RL saline is also administered to patients who cannot take food or water. At present, RL line has also been finished in Dhanbad Sadar Hospital. If necessary, the patient and his family members have to purchase RL line from outside.

Battery of blood sugar machine runs out, testing stopped

There is an acute shortage of necessary resources in the hospital. The situation is that the battery of the machine available for testing the sugar of patients in pathology has run out. The department is not even providing batteries for a long time. In such a situation, even blood sugar testing with this machine has been stopped. There is no other system for testing blood sugar. Because due to lack of auto analyzer machine, bio chemistry test is not already done in the pathology of the hospital.

The process of availability of medicines and other materials is long

At present the post of Deputy Superintendent has not been created in Sadar Hospital. A nodal officer has been appointed for the operation of the hospital. Nodal has not been given financial charge for purchasing other materials including medicines. In such a situation, if there is a shortage of other resources including medicines, a demand is made to the DPM through the CS. Such a situation has arisen due to the DPM not providing medicines and other materials on time.

Health department is not following the orders of Joint Secretary

Recently, Joint Secretary of Health Department, Vidyanand Sharma Pankaj had inspected Sadar Hospital. During that time he was informed about the condition of the hospital. He had instructed the civil surgeon to give financial charges to the nodal officer of the hospital, so that necessary medicines and other materials could be purchased at the nodal officer level. CS has not taken any action in this regard till now.
