Afghanistan put up another scintillating performance to beat a ‘new-look’ Pakistan team by seven wickets with a ball to spare in the second Twenty20 International to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. This is the first time that Afghanistan has won a series against an ICC team ranked in the top six. Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat but the less experienced top order again disappointed. But for that, Imad Wasim scored an unbeaten 64 off 57 balls and captain Shadab Khan scored 32 to take the team to 130 for six.
After this, Rahmanullah Gurbaz (44 runs) and Ibrahim Zadran (38 runs) made important contributions for Afghanistan while chasing the target. Najibullah Zadran scored 23 not out and Mohammad Nabi scored 14 not out to help his team win by scoring 133 runs for three wickets with one ball to spare. Afghanistan needed 22 runs in the last two overs. In the 19th over, Najibullah and Nabi hit Naseem Shah for a six each, which scored 17 runs and Pakistan’s hopes were shattered. Afghanistan registered a memorable six-wicket win over Pakistan on Friday. The third T20 match will be played on Monday.
