International Cricket Council (ICC) On Monday, after the appeal of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the pitch rating of Indore has been changed. here earlier this month between India and Australia Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test match took place. The pitch was rated “poor” after the match. Three demerit points were given to the pitch after the match was over within three days. However, the rating has been changed to ‘below average’ following an appeal by the BCCI.
31 wickets fell in two days in Indore
The Indore pitch was widely criticized after 31 wickets fell in two days. Spinners took 26 wickets in this match. After India’s nine-wicket win over Australia on the third day of the third Test, ICC match referee Chris Broad gave a tough call on the pitch. He said in his report that the pitch, which was very dry, favored the spinners from the start and was not providing a balance between bat and ball.
India and Australia in WTC final
After the conclusion of the Border-Gavaskar series, the BCCI appealed. On behalf of the ICC, the appeals panel consisted of ICC General Manager (Cricket) Wasim Khan and Roger Harper, a member of the ICC Men’s Cricket Committee. Both reviewed the footage of the Test match. Both the panellists stated that the match referee followed the guidelines as per Appendix A of the pitch monitoring procedure. But there wasn’t enough highly variable bounce to warrant a ‘poor’ rating. Hence, the rating for the Indore pitch was changed from ‘poor’ to ‘below average’.
