He also said, “At that time, in 2017, I thought about relocating to the Netherlands to play club hockey. I had given up hope of representing India. If he (Jugraj) had not guided me at that time, I would not have been here. When you are doing well, you need good guidance.” Hardik said, ”He advised me to watch more hockey in the country and improve my game. At that time I was 18-19 years old, so I thought of giving myself some more time.
He said, “He (Jugraj) told me that age is on your side. You have the game, you can shine even by staying in India. Play for the domestic teams and show your skills so that people can know about you.” The midfielder said, ”If it was not for his guidance, I would not be here today because I did not have that much patience.” Hardik’s India The decision to stay back yielded the desired results as he became a key part of the midfield in the Indian team and was part of the Indian team that won bronze at the Tokyo Olympics and gold at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
