With Ranveer Allahabadia, Diljit recalled how at the age of eleven he left his home and started living with his maternal uncle. He said, “I left my village and came to the city. I went to Ludhiana. They said ‘send her with me to the city’ and my parents said ‘yes, take her.’ My parents didn’t even ask me.”
He further added, “I lived alone in a small room. I would just go to school and come back, there was no TV. I had a lot of time. Besides, we didn’t even have mobile phones.” Then, if I had to call home or get a call from my parents, it cost us money. So I started moving away from my family. My father was a very sweet person, he didn’t even ask me which school I studied in, but not only him, I lost touch with everyone.
