Rome. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, also known as Ibra, has announced his retirement from football after the last match of AC Milan’s 2022-2023 season. Ibrahimovic, who turns 42 in October, has decided to leave Milan. His contract was ending. Before the start of Sunday’s game, Ibra was in tears as fans in the stands cheered his name and showed him goodbye banners, reports Xinhua news agency.
The Swedish legend, whose previous teams include Malmö, Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and LA Galaxy, began his second spell at the Milanollo in January 2020.
However, he was plagued by injuries and could play only four matches this season. During this he mostly appeared in cameo roles and could only score one goal.
Ibra announced his decision during the post-game ceremony, saying: It is time to say goodbye to football, but not to you. I have so many feelings for you.
Ibra won over 30 trophies in his 24-year professional career. He played over 900 matches and scored over 500 goals at both national and club level.(IANS)
