ICC imposed ban on Rizwan for 17 and a half years

Dubai: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has banned British club cricketer Rizwan Javed for 17 and a half years for violating anti-corruption rules. The ICC decided to impose this ban on Javed after he was found guilty of five separate violations of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) anti-corruption rules.
Javed was among the eight players and officials who were charged by the ICC in September 2023 for corrupt conduct during the Abu Dhabi T-10 League played in the year 2021. Nasir Hussain of Bangladesh was also accused of corruption in this case, but Hussain was banned for two years for cooperating in the investigation. This is the second longest ban imposed on a player by the ICC.
In the ICC investigation, Javed has been found guilty under rules 2.1.1, 2.1.3, 2.1.4, 2.4.4 and 2.4.6. This ban on Javed will come into effect from 19 September 2023, the date of his suspension. ICC General Manager (Integrity) Alex Marshall said, “Rizwan has been banned for his efforts to get professional cricketers to engage in corrupt conduct. This ban is also a strong message to those corrupt people who intend to entangle cricket in the quagmire of corruption at any level.
