Rajkot: Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan registered his name in history by scoring the second fastest half-century for India in his debut match on Thursday. Sarfaraz took 48 balls to complete his maiden Test half-century against England in the third Test at the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium. With this half-century, he became the joint second fastest Indian batsman along with Hardik Pandya to score a half-century in his Test debut.
Hardik took 48 balls to complete his half-century in his debut match against Sri Lanka in 2017. Sarfaraz and Pandya are behind former Indian cricketer Yadvendra Singh (Yuvraj of Patiala), who scored a half-century in 42 balls in his first and last Test in 1934. However, Sarfaraz faced run-out due to which his innings stopped at 62 runs. At the end of the first day’s play, India scored a mammoth 326/5 thanks to centuries from Jadeja and Rohit Sharma.
