ICC World Cup trophy tour lights up Kuwait and Bahrain

Kuwait City: The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 trophy tour continues its remarkable journey, spreading the excitement of cricket and uniting cricket lovers in Kuwait and Bahrain. The tour’s recent stops in these Middle Eastern countries were marked by grand unveilings, iconic venues and overwhelming fan activity, reflecting cricket’s universal appeal and growing enthusiasm for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. The first day of the tour saw a special invitational event aboard Al-Hashmi-Kak, the largest sailing ship ever. The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup trophy was unveiled in the presence of Haider Farman, President of Kuwait Cricket Club (KCC) and Imran Khawaja, Vice President of ICC.

The unveiling was followed by a panoramic photo opportunity, marking the beginning of an enchanting journey. The tour continued with a series of spectacular events at iconic landmarks in Kuwait, including the Kuwait Towers, the Parliament, Al Hamra Tower and The Mall – the tallest building in Kuwait. These venues provided the perfect backdrop for the tour, celebrating cricket’s massive presence and global reach. The Kuwait leg concluded with an exciting fan activation event at the Sulabiya Cricket Ground, which was attended by around 10,000 fans. A host of engagements created a carnival-like atmosphere, uniting fans under the banner of a unified spirit of cricket. The tour journey continued to Bahrain, where the trophy visited Bahrain Bay, the World Trade Center and the King Fahd Causeway – a symbolic link to the aspirations.

The evening saw a prestigious unveiling event, which was attended by Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa as well as cricket legends such as ICC’s Imran Khawaja and Iqbal Sikandar and other respected dignitaries. The trophy also visited the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre, cementing cricket’s place in Bahrain’s cultural landscape. The tour began with a trophy display at Dana Mall, adding to the excitement of cricket. The evening saw an open bus ride from the city to the Bahrain International Circuit, giving fans a unique opportunity to celebrate their love for cricket against a stunning backdrop.
