On August 21, Pankaj’s father Pandit Banaras Tripathi died at the age of 99.
Addressing his National Award win, Pankaj has released a statement which reads, “This is unfortunately a time of loss and grief for me. If Babuji was around, he would have been very happy for me. When I first got the mention of the National Award, he was very proud and happy.

Pankaj Tripathi has been announced for the Best Supporting Actor award for ‘Mimi’. He dedicated the award to his father who passed away recently. Tripathi said in a statement, “Unfortunately this is a time of mourning for me. If Babuji was near, he would have been very happy for me. When I got the National Award (special award for Newton) for the first time, he was proud and happy. I dedicate this National Award to him and his spirit. Kriti has won the Best Actress award, so many congratulations to her.”

I dedicate the National Award to my father
Talking about his father, Pankaj Tripathi said “I dedicate this National Award to him and his spirit. Whatever I am today is because of them. Due to this time I have no words but I am happy and thankful to the team. Kriti has also won the Best Actress award, so many congratulations to her.” Mimi featured Pankaj Bhanu in the role of Pratap Pandey, a taxi driver who is a friend of Kriti Sanon’s on-screen character.

Kriti also congratulated Pankaj on her Instagram, writing, “Your father would be very proud”.
Coming back to the unfortunate demise of the actor’s father, Pankaj’s team had released a statement which read, “It is with a heavy heart to confirm that Pankaj Tripathi’s father, Pandit Banaras Tiwari is no more. He lived a healthy life of 99 years. His last rites will be performed today among his close family. Pankaj Tripathi is currently going to his village in Gopalganj.
