IFFK to screen 67 films including seven Oscar-winning films

Thiruvananthapuram (Uttam Hindu News): Kerala A total of 67 films, including seven Oscar award-winning films, will be screened across 14 theaters on Tuesday as part of the International Film Festival of India (IFFK). Of the seven Oscar entries, there will be final screenings of Radu Jude’s Don’t Expect Too Much from the End of the World and Nikolaj Arcel’s The Promised Land.

Other Oscar-nominated films from different countries at the festival include Felipe Gálvez Haberle’s The Settlers, Stepan Komanderev’s Blagaz’s Lessons, Pavo Choying Dorji’s The Monk and the Gun, Amr Gamal’s The Bird’d and Wim Wenders’s Perfect Days. The Homage category will feature films like Terence Davis’ Distant Voices Still Lives, Carlos Saura’s Cousin Angelica and Ibrahim Goleston’s Brick and Mirror. Rita Azevedo Gomes’s The Portuguese Woman in the jury film category and The Guerrilla Fighter in the Mrinal Sen retrospective category are also scheduled for Tuesday. Ten films in the competition category, including Fazil Razak’s Thadavu (The Sentence), Diego del Rio’s All the Silence and Sabit Kurmanbekov’s The Snowstorm, are set for their second screening.

The festival features 26 films in the World Cinema category, including Edura Onashile’s Girl, Delphine Girard’s Through the Night, Petr Václav’s The Bohemian, Angela Shanelec’s Music, Gabor Reese’s Explanation for Everything and Marina Wroda’s Stepney.Malayalam Cinema In the Today category, Jio Baby’s Kathal, Anand Ekarshi’s Attam (The Play), Sunil Malur’s Valsai Paravakal, Rinosun’s Five First Dates, Shruti Sharanyam’s B32 to 44, and Shalini Ushadevi’s Enenam (Now and Forever) There will be second screening of Shah Rukh Khan Chavda’s What Colour, Dominic Sangma’s Rapture and Uttam Kamati’s Kherwal in the Indian Cinema Now category at the festival.
