Increase the strength of your spleen this winter, follow these healthy measures

The spleen is a delicate organ. In traditional Chinese medicine, it is called digestive fire. By nourishing it with warm foods at the beginning of winter, you can strengthen its health and boost your immunity.
Stay away from cold foods – Foods that are very raw or very cold should be avoided. Excessive amounts of raw vegetables or food taken straight from the refrigerator depletes the digestive fire so should be avoided. Green salads and raw vegetables with high water content can increase inflammation and cellulite accumulation.
Herbal tea or decoction after meals can promote good digestion. Dates, grapes, pear, potato, cucumber, carrot, watermelon, grains, liquorice, honey, cinnamon and fennel help in toning the spleen.
Avoid sugar and fat – People who have the habit of eating more sugar should change it. Because too much sugar overworks the pancreas and is not good for the spleen. Alcohol, fat, fast sugar and excessive amounts of dairy products should not be eaten.
Irregular eating habits affect the functioning of the spleen. Skipping breakfast, eating large or late meals and having breakfast can weaken the spleen.
Whole grains and pulses maintain good functioning of the spleen. Include rice, wheat, quinoa, millet, buckwheat, lentils, dry beans, chickpeas and peas in your daily diet.
Among vegetables, it is beneficial to give preference to seasonal, yellow and orange colored roots and vegetables like carrots, potatoes and sweet potatoes.
If your spleen is not working well despite a good diet, it may be due to stress, insufficient exercise, excessive anxiety, illness, or too humid a climate or environment.
Talking about the symptoms of bad spleen, it includes indigestion, cold limbs, fatigue, loose stools and swelling.
