Jay Shah confirmed Gaikwad’s exit
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said in a statement that Ruturaj Gaikwad injured his right ring finger while fielding in the second ODI against South Africa at Gkebarha. He was scanned and after expert consultation, the BCCI medical team has ruled him out of the remainder of the tour. He will report to the NCA for the management of his injury. The men’s selection committee has named Abhimanyu Easwaran as his replacement.
Rajat Patidar made his debut in ODI
Due to a finger injury, the opening batsman could not play in the third and final ODI against South Africa on Thursday. At the time of the toss, captain KL Rahul informed that Gaikwad had to sit on the bench due to a finger injury. In his place, Rajat Patidar made his ODI debut and made a place in the playing eleven. Patidar also could not leave much impact in the match. He played an innings of 22 runs.
Many changes in India A team also
Apart from this, BCCI has also made major changes in the India A team. The statement said that Harshit Rana has been ruled out of the four-day match against South Africa A in Benoni from December 26 due to a hamstring injury. The selection committee has included middle-order batsmen Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Avesh Khan and Rinku Singh in the India A team. Kuldeep Yadav has been released.
