India beats South Africa 6-3, will face Netherlands in the final

Muscat (Oman): The Indian women’s team bounced back from a goal down twice to defeat South Africa 6-3 in the semi-finals and enter the final of the FIH Hockey 5s Women’s World Cup 2024 here on Friday.
India will face Netherlands, who defeated Poland 3-1 in the other semi-final, in the final to be played at 21:50 IST on Saturday.
India, who fought back at half-time to level the score at 2-2, scored four goals in the second half to take the lead in the second semi-final.
After South Africa took the lead through Tayshawn de la Rey in the fifth minute, India leveled the score with a field goal by Akshata Abaso Dhekale in the seventh minute. The African country once again took the lead when Tony Marks scored in the eighth minute but Mariana Kujur made the score 2–2 in the 11th minute.
After the half-time break, the Indian women’s team completely took control of the match and defeated South Africa by scoring four goals within six minutes.
In the 21st minute, Mumtaz Khan scored the third goal for India to make the score 3-2 and two minutes later, Rutaja Dadaso Pisal scored to give India a 4-2 lead, Jyoti Chhetri (25th minute) and Azmina Kujur (26th minute) ) scored a quick goal to put India ahead of South Africa, who reduced the gap through Chamberlain Dirkie’s goal in the 29th minute. But it was too little and too late as the Indians ran out 6–3 winners.
