Indian mens blind cricket team arrives in London for IBSA World Games 2023

London. The Indian men’s blind cricket team has reached London for the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) World Games 2023, starting on August 18 in Birmingham.

The Indian men’s blind cricket team is led by Ajay Kumar Reddy Illuri (B2 category). The team reached London on Monday along with the officials.

The World Games 2023 in Birmingham, to be played from August 18 to August 27, includes blind cricket for the first time.

Mahantesh G Kivadasanwar, President, Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) after reaching London said, “The participation of the Indian Men’s Blind Cricket Team in the IBSA World Games 2023 is a historic moment for us. We are very confident about our performance team and we will give our best in the tournament.”

CABI Secretary General Shailendra Yadav said, “The journey to IBSA World Games 2023 is a collaborative effort of our athletes, coaches and support staff. We are confident that our team will give its best.”

Last week, former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif spoke at length about blind cricket and how the athletes have inspired him and changed his perception of the game.

Kaif had said in a statement, “We as players are not able to play good cricket at times and these players are playing and doing brilliantly despite not being able to see clearly. That’s something we should appreciate. I salute them, CABI and IBSA. I wish Indian team all the best. My message to them is just go and enjoy the game. I wish them win the tournament ”.

Also, the Indian women’s blind cricket team will arrive in Birmingham on Thursday for the IBSA World Games 2023.

The Indian men’s team will begin their journey with a thrilling match against Pakistan on August 20 while the Indian women’s team will take on Australia on the same day to open their campaign.
