New Delhi: The Harmanpreet-led Indian men’s hockey team will look to end a decade-long drought by winning the five-match Test series starting Saturday in Perth. The first match of the series will be held in Perth on April 6. The second match will be played on 7th, third on 10th, fourth on 12th and fifth match on 13th April.
This series is considered important in view of the preparations for the Paris Olympics. The Indian team aims to end a decade-long drought by defeating Australia in the Test series. India had earlier won the Test series against Australia on its own soil in 2014. According to statistics, there have been a total of 43 clashes between the Indian hockey team and Australia since 2013.
In these matches, Australia has won 28 times, while India has won eight matches. Seven matches have ended in draws. In the current world ranking, India is at 4th place and Australia is at 5th place. Indian team head coach Craig Fulton described the tour as important and said, this series serves as a litmus test for our team’s preparations before the Paris Olympics.
