Indian team will be selected for T-20 World Cup in the last week of April
New Delhi: India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup to be held in the USA and West Indies is likely to be selected in the last week of April as the ICC’s deadline for submitting squads is May 1. A source in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) gave this information on Saturday, but each team participating in the tournament will get a chance to change players in their starting team till May 25.
A senior BCCI source said on the condition of confidentiality, ‘The Indian team will be selected during the last week of April and by this time the first part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be over by which the National Selection Committee will be able to assess the form and fitness of the contenders. Will be in a position to assess.
The source said, ‘The first batch of cricketers will leave for New York soon after the league phase of the IPL ends on May 19. Players whose teams do not qualify for the final four will also go early as happened during the WTC Finals last year.
