The Indian women’s hockey team won its second Asian Champions Trophy title by defeating Japan 4-0 on Sunday. India defeated the two-time champions with the help of goals from Sangeeta Kumari (17th minute), Neha (46th minute), Laremsiami (57th) and Vandana Kataria (60th minute). The match started 50 minutes late due to flight problems.

The Indian team remained in form during this match held at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Marang Gomke, Ranchi. In the 17th minute of the match, Sangeeta scored a brilliant goal to give India a 1-0 lead. After falling behind by one goal, Japan intensified its attack and scored a goal in the 22nd minute.

However, the Indian captain took a video referral, in which the goal was declared a foul. Neha scored the second goal for India from a penalty corner in the 46th minute. Japan got a chance to score on the 52nd minute. Japan got a penalty for wrongly blocking a Japanese player in D, but Indian goalkeeper Savita Punia saved the goal.

Apart from this, India scored the third goal from a penalty corner in the 57th minute. In the 60th minute, Vandana Kataria scored a field goal to give the team a 4-0 victory. India’s Deep Grace Ekka was awarded the Player of the Match award, while Jharkhand’s Sangeeta Kumari was awarded the Rising Star title.
