To encourage sports and players in Uttar Pradesh (UP), the government has made arrangements to appoint 50 international players for training at an honorarium of Rs 1.50 lakh per month in view of the need for excellent training for the players studying in residential sports hostels.
Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly during his budget speech on Monday said that the government has made many provisions in the budget to encourage sports and players in Uttar Pradesh. The most important provision in this is related to the development of sports infrastructure in various districts, for which a provision of Rs 195 crore has been made. This is 67 percent more than the financial year 2023-24.
He said that apart from this, considering the need of excellent training to the players studying in residential sports hostels, the government has made arrangements to engage 50 international players for training at an honorarium of Rs 1.50 lakh per month. Khanna said that apart from this, a provision of Rs 50 crore is proposed for the construction of sports infrastructure with private participation in the state, while a provision of Rs 50 crore has been made for the award scheme to the winning players of national and international competitions.
He said that a provision of Rs 12 crore is proposed for the establishment of ‘Sports Science and Injury Centre’. Through this, proper treatment of players’ injuries will be possible.
