IPL 2023: Kolkata Knight Riders appointed Nitish Rana as captain in place of injured Shreyas Iyer

Kolkata: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Monday left-handed batsman Nitish Rana Has been made the new captain of the team for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Rana, shreyas iyer who is likely to undergo back surgery which is threatening to rule him out for the entire season. KKR’s statement clearly indicates that the possibility of Iyer making an early comeback and playing looks impossible.
Shreyas Iyer may miss the entire season
According to the statement of KKR, Nitish Rana will be the captain of the team in the absence of Shreyas Iyer. Iyer is recovering from a back injury. We have hoped that Shreyas will recover from this and play in some part of the IPL 2023 phase. We are fortunate to have a player like Nitish who has immense IPL experience having captained his state team in white-ball cricket with KKR since 2018 and will do a wonderful job for us.
Rana has been the captain of Delhi in Mushtaq Ali Trophy
Rana captained Delhi in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. However, he was dropped from the Delhi team in this Ranji season due to his poor performance. Rana has taken over the responsibility of captaining Delhi in 12 T20 matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, in which the team won eight and lost four. KKR’s team will start their campaign on April 1 against Punjab Kings.
