Oscar-winning composer Rahman said that when he and his team decided to use AI software, they knew that it was necessary to have the consent of the families of both the singers.
“We went to the families, asked for permission, and they were overwhelmed,” Rahman said. We paid compensation. These are all personal properties that he has given to the family. It is their right to say yes or no. In this case, they said yes and we used it. For me there is nothing objectionable in this because we had taken valid permission.”
Bakya, who sang popular songs like Ponni Nadhi in Mani Ratnam’s film Ponniyin Selvan, died in September 2022 at the age of 42. He also sang the song Pullinangal from Rajinikanth’s film 2.0, Kalame Kalame from Vijay’s film Bigil and Simtarangaran from the film Sarkar. At the same time, Hameed worked with Rahman in films like Gentleman, Jeans and Kadhalan. Hameed died in 1998.
