Rajkot. Left-handed opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored unbeaten 214 in India’s 434-run win over England in the third Test, said he enjoyed hitting three consecutive sixes against veteran fast bowler James Anderson during his thrilling innings.

After being retired hurt on 104 on the third day, Jaiswal scored 214 off 236 balls when India’s second innings was declared at a total of 430/4.

This was his double century in the second consecutive match. Jaiswal, who scored 171 runs in his debut match against West Indies in July last year, hit 14 fours and 12 sixes and equaled Wasim Akram in the world record of most sixes in a Test innings.

After the match, Jaiswal told broadcasters Geo Cinema, “I think I was in really good form. I felt if he bowled there, I had to play my shots. He is a world-class bowler. I Just trying my best and I really enjoyed it.”

In seven Test matches, Jaiswal has now scored 861 runs at an average of 71.75, which includes three centuries. All of which has translated into scores of over 150. Jaiswal is also the first Test player to hit more than 20 sixes in a series.

His unbeaten inning of 214 made him the third youngest Test batsman in the world to register two double centuries in this format, after Sir Donald Bradman and Vinod Kambli.

Jaiswal also became the third Indian batsman after Kambli and Virat Kohli to score consecutive double centuries in Tests.
